Litz is a term derived from the German language which means “twisted” – thanks to the weaving of hundreds or thousands of small elementary conductors, the litz wires and cables limit the losses on alternate current due to the so-called skin effect, especially at high frequencies, where the conductivity of a single conductor of the same section would result much lower, due to the fact that AC tends to distribute itself more on the external surface of the conductors, leaving in fact a significant unused part.
